The driver of a red Ford Fusion tells us he was parking his car at a hotel parking lot, when he accidentally hit the gas and ended up rolling down a 60 foot embankment into the Rouge River.
It happened at about 2:30 pm and someone immediately called 911.
From there rescuers were able to help the man and his niece to safety.
A tow truck driver also arrived on scene at Telegraph and Michigan Ave., and helped pull the car out.
That driver who chose not to be identified says, "When I got there I went to hit the brakes, but instead hit the accelerator."
Tonight, he's happy no one had to go to the hospital.
