Auburn Hills police trying to determine if deadly crash resulted from drunk driving

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (WXYZ) — Auburn Hills police are investigating a deadly vehicle crash believed to be caused by a drunk driver.

The victim Dwayne Harrison, 31, of Sterling Heights was ejected from his vehicle on January 30th around 12:30 p.m., according to a news release.

The preliminary investigation report said Harrison's vehicle, a 2017 white Hyundai Santa Fe, was pulling out of the Sunoco gas station onto Auburn Rd.

He was struck by a 2011 gray Mitsubishi Endeavor, which was traveling eastbound, driven by a 55-year-old man from Auburn Hills.

The driver of the Mitsubishi sustained minor injuries and was also transported to the hospital for treatment. The crash is now being investigated by the Southeast Oakland County Crash Investigation Team.

7 Action News spoke with Harrison's widow who said he was on his way home from work. She added that she's pregnant with their third child.

Harrison will be laid to rest on Saturday. The family has set up a Zoom link to view the memorial service.
