PONTIAC, Mich. (WXYZ) — Home surveillance video shows bullets flying into a home on Lewis Street in Pontiac Monday morning around 5:30.

A family, including a two-year-old boy, were asleep at the time of the shooting. No one was seriously hurt when approximately 30 rounds were fired into the home and several cars in the area.

“Divine intervention, luck, call it what you may. You have that many rounds fired -- that go into a house, that hit the bed board that you’re in and you only get a splinter from the headboard. That’s an amazing thing," said Sheriff Michael Bouchard of Oakland County.

That headboard was struck with two bullets, which came in from the upstairs window. The man living in the home suffered some minor splinters.

The family’s car was also riddled with gunfire — the front windows blown out, and bullet holes on the side.

The family is now worried for their safety. They were too shaken up to go on camera, but told 7 Action News they're staying with relatives for now.

“We have no information really at this point to believe that they were targeted," Sheriff Bouchard told 7 Action News.

He's asking for the public’s help in finding the shooter or shooters. Investigators found rounds from a shotgun and a handgun at the scene.

“These cowards obviously are still on the street and that’s where we could use some help from the public if they know who did this," Bouchard says.

Anyone with information should contact the Oakland County Sheriff's Office at 248-858-4950.
