DEARBORN, Mich. (WXYZ) — Dearborn City Councilman Robert Abraham says this should serve as a warning to keep windows and doors locked at home.
In his case, he woke up with a stranger in his bedroom, early in the morning hours.
Prosecutors say 29-year-old Samuel Beasley committed a crime of opportunity, by entering Abraham’s home thru an open garage door along Crescent Drive.
“I woke up and saw him standing over me. I yelled at him to get out and lunged at him,” says Abraham. “Then, I realized I probably should be more careful.”
He then called 911, as Beasley ran off.
Dearborn Police arrived within a minute and made the arrest a day later in another city. Abraham says jewelry was stolen in the June 4th home invasion.
Beasley is now facing felony charges.
The councilman is also thanking his neighbors who helped provide a description, and Dearborn Heights Police, along with the Dearborn Police for their work in this case.
