WESTLAND (WXYZ) — Chadra Stiltner, 48, is accused of having a plastic bag of her son's bloody clothes and asking a friend to burn it. But what Chadra may not have realized is that man had been drinking too much to remember the unusual request, according to investigators with Michigan State Police.
The bag of bloody clothes sat at a house in Westland until the friend went to take out the trash.
Investigators believe Chadra's son, Flem Stiltner IV, was wearing those clothes when he allegedly murdered his father on Aug. 9, 2020.
And Action News has obtained new details in the case that reveal why investigators believe the 25-year-old Westland man plotted to kill his father, Flem Stiltner III.
In a journal that has been recovered by police, young Flem Stiltner reportedly wrote details of his alleged plot to kill his dad.
And, in early August, the body of Flem Stiltner III was found in the back of a pickup truck near the edge of Belleville Lake in Van Buren Township. He died from multiple stab wounds.
Flem Stiltner IV entered his father's house through a rear door, allegedly killed him, and then dragged his body out of the house and loaded it onto the truck.
Investigators believe the victim's son planned to drive the pickup truck into the lake but it got stuck and he fled on foot.
Flem Stiltner IV was later located at a local hospital where he reportedly went for medical attention and psychological counseling.
He was later arrested and charged with first-degree premeditated murder, home invasion, and tampering with evidence.
His mother, Chadra Stiltner, is charged with tampering with evidence and accessory after the fact.
Megan Stiltner, Chadra's 20-year-old daughter with Flem Stiltner III, has been charged with bribing/intimidating/interfering with witnesses.
Megan allegedly threatened witnesses in her mother’s case, according to people close to the investigation.
Flem Stiltner IV is being held without bond. His case has been delayed in order for him to undergo a competency evaluation.
His defense attorney, Maria Mannarino, said she's unable to comment on the case until the competency evaluation has been completed.
Action News has been unable to reach Chadra Stiltner or Megan Stiltner or their attorneys for comment.
